An oldie but goodie!

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta has been sitting on my bookshelf for a long time and I finally decided to pick it up. Now I am sorry I waited so long. If you like fast, light reads, this isn't the book for you. If you are thoughtful and willing to have a story move slowly like a snail-paced river, then go for it.
Taylor Markham was abandoned by her mother when she was eleven and the memories of her real life get mixed in with the book her mentor and mother figure Hannah is writing. The story takes place in Australia, so some of the language takes some time to comprehend, but it is worth the trouble. A lovely story of coming to terms with your life, your past and your future with small doses of romance and intrigue built in. Enjoy!
